After all five members of NewJeans expressed a strong desire to return to ADOR, speculation has arisen about how the group’s musical direction might change without their original creative mastermind, Min Hee Jin. Previously, Min and her hand-picked team at ADOR were responsible for curating the group’s music and distinctive Y2K-inspired concept. She had even laid out a detailed seven-year release plan for NewJeans before her conflict with HYBE led to her removal from the group’s production process.

In the wake of this shift, one name has surfaced repeatedly as a potential replacement: Hitchhiker, a seasoned producer and former key figure at SM Entertainment. Prior to joining HYBE, Hitchhiker was the executive producer of SM’s EDM sub-label ScreaM Records. His portfolio includes iconic K-pop tracks like “Abracadabra” by Brown Eyed Girls, “Pinocchio (Danger)” by f(x), and “Oh!” by Girls’ Generation.
Though Hitchhiker, like Min Hee Jin, has roots in SM Entertainment and may bring a similarly experimental sonic identity, a shift in the group’s lead producer will almost certainly influence the overall tone and musical evolution of NewJeans moving forward.
As fans wait for an official update, concerns remain over whether this potential change in leadership will preserve the charm that propelled NewJeans to global stardom.
